Worlds Greatest Drag race

Motor trend arranged world greatest drag race, it was amongst 11 exotic cars.which were Audi R8 GT,  BMW 1 M, Chevy Corvette Z06,  Ferrari 458 Italia,  Ford Mustang Boss 302, Lexus LFA,  Lotus Evora S,  Mercedes SLS AMG,  Nissan GT-R,  Porsche Cayman R and  Porsche 911 GT3 RS. They tested all above cars many ways, one of them was lap around Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, although Italia didn't won the lap time race or drag in straight line.but the ferrari 458 italia is nominated for the car of year 2011. I wonder how?
